Megan Molteni is a science writer for STAT, covering genomic medicine, neuroscience, and reproductive tech. Prior to joining STAT, she was a staff writer at WIRED, where she wrote about CRISPR, the rise of big DNA data, and genetic privacy before leading WIRED’s science coverage of the Covid-19 pandemic. She has broken stories from inside the gene-editing industry and written extensively about the expansion of invasive new DNA technologies into U.S. law enforcement. Her work has also appeared in Popular Science, Discover, Undark, and Aeon. Megan received a B.A. in biology from Carleton College and a master's of journalism from the University of California, Berkeley. She is based in Minneapolis.
