Isabella Cueto is a chronic disease reporter at STAT. She joined in 2021 as the inaugural Sharon Begley-STAT Science Reporting Fellow. Before coming to STAT, Isabella covered local government in Santa Cruz, Calif. She got her start working as a reporter for The State newspaper in Columbia, S.C. Isabella is originally from Miami, where she attended the University of Miami, edited the student newspaper, and worked for South Florida's NPR station, WLRN. While interning at WLRN, she covered a Miami man's wrongful conviction as part of her work for Northwestern University's Medill Justice Project.
