Sandra Hernández

Hernández, a physician, has spent her career working toward equitable public health access — most recently as head of the California Health Care Foundation, a philanthropic trust with the aim of improving access to quality care in a state where nearly one-third of residents live at or near the poverty level. As a member of Gov. Gavin Newsom’s Healthy California for All Commission, which released its final report last April, she had a hand in laying out a potential path toward affordable, high-quality health care for all Californians. Hernández also helped draft rules for the state’s health information data exchange, set to launch in 2024, that will consolidate medical records to help health care professionals better coordinate care.
